Margaret Hunter – In Memoriam

Margaret Hunter, who for many years looked after our hair and make up has died.

Margaret first joined us in 2007, behind the scenes of ‘When We Are Married,’ when elaborate Edwardian hairstyles were required. She carried on through ‘Christmas Will be Late’, ‘Stand & Deliver’, ‘The Farndale Avenue Murder Mystery’, ‘Snow White’, ‘And Then There Were None’, ‘Dangerous Corner’, ‘Thicker than Water’ plus Revues and ENSA nights.  She could rescue any wig, helped numerous Dames with their costume changes and was always a calm influence in the changing rooms.  She also made the best shortbread ever which she regularly brought along to rehearsals – she will be missed.

Drama Club photos including Margaret are not so common, as she was strictly a backstage lady, but we’re pleased to have found this one:

Margaret’s funeral is on Thursday 16 January at 1.30 pm at Little Gaddesden Church, afterwards at Castle Village. (There was some doubt about the time, but it seems to have settled down to 1.30pm.)

Such a lovely lady. She did my hair on three shows and was so nice to chat with, so calm, and so skilled at her craft. I’m very sorry to hear of her death and send my best wishes to her friends and family.
